It was put to me recently, that the core message of 97Percent is "you don't have to do marketing". In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. However, what we DO say is that not everyone wants to do marketing, not everyone CAN do marketing (in the first instance at least) and not everyone is able to commit the time and effort to a 'success at all costs' approach that typifies the 3% who will make it one way or another.
Every single person in network marketing needs to be marketing their business, bulding their network /somehow/. For many people, the traditional approach of training and getting them to "duplicate" simply doesn't work. What is needed is an approach of "Horses for Courses".
What do I mean by that? Well, in a nutshell, everyone is different and so are their skills, abilities and needs. While keeping in mind the overall aim of building a network of consumers, we need to work with people in ways that match their needs. Some will want to be mentored the old way, and will go on to build successfully, some will be afraid of making phone calls, or have other valid reasons for not duplicating the "classic" building methods.
The NM industry as it stands today will basically toss these people to one side, telling them they need to develop a better mindset, telling them that to succeed they must do whatever it takes, and generalling urging them to make a superhuman effort. While we appreciate that those who do the above WILL succeed, we also take the view that there are real and practical ways that the majority can be given a helping hand, and ways in which they can build a business that suits THEM.
In those cases we probably WON'T recommend tools and systems, quite simply because those people would get frustrated, the systems would gather dust, and the myth would get further reinforced!
Everyone is different, so it's well past the time that network marketers realised that one version of a process, duplicated over and over, is simply not going to cut it. We need processes that are flexible enough to accomodate different personality types. At the end of the day, the more encompassing our approach with prospective business partners, the more chance we give ourselves and others of building a successful network.

I have been asked if we can do a series, explaining the basic components/structure involved in building a network marketing organisation online. The plan is to present a simple explanation of the core components, and how they hang together, as a multi-part 'column' in this weekly newsletter.
If there's a topic you would like exploring further, then drop a line to gary@avallach.com with your suggestion/request and we'll see what can be done!
Many thanks to all that have helped make 97Percent.org and this newsletter a reality, with particular thanks to Carmel Burke, Avallach's Sales and Marketing Manager, Tracie Close of WriteMinded LLC, and of course, our loyal subscribers!
